The absence of the three young royals, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, from their mother Kate Middleton’s hospital visit has sparked global attention. During her nearly two-week stay in the hospital, following a recent abdominal surgery, the three children were notably absent, while her husband, Prince William, was documented visiting her. Kate Middleton made a decisive choice not to allow her children, aged 10, 8, and 5, to visit her in the hospital during her recovery, while Prince William made several visits to her during her 13-day stay after the surgery on January 16th at a private London clinic.
A royal source told ET that the Prince of Wales and Kate Middleton wanted to shield their children and maintain a sense of normality for them. Efforts were also made to prevent them from feeling anxious.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward commented on the matter, stating, “I don’t think she wanted to make it more frightening than it already was.
They’ll get together in the way they do it in their own home and help look after her.”
Instead of in-person visits, Kate Middleton stayed in touch with her children through the FaceTime app, a regular practice for her and William when they are away from the children on royal tours. It is also a general rule that children are not allowed to visit the London clinic without prior permission for patient safety and to avoid infection. One patient who had an abdominal surgery at the London clinic last summer told PEOPLE magazine that he regretted his son’s visit as he found the experience “really frightening.” A close source to the royal family added that their family dynamic is “something we can all relate to.”

Kensington Palace, with a focus on family, stated on January 17th that Kate Middleton wanted to “maintain as much normality as possible for her children” after her surgery the day before.
Within their wider circle of family friends, there was no indication of anything being amiss before the palace announcement.
Coulisse is questioning whether Kate Middleton’s choice to prevent her children from visiting the hospital during her recovery can be viewed as a responsible parenting decision or an unnecessary constraint on the children’s participation in family matters?
